Admiralty Arch was designed by Sir Aston Webb and built in 1910 as part of the Queen Victoria memorial scheme. The central archway is used only on ceremonial occasions. The Latin inscription translates as "In the tenth year of King Edward VII, to Queen Victoria, from most grateful citizens, 1910"
